As part of my LA Loves series, the goal is to share my fave businesses, places to visit, and fab things to do right here in Los Angeles. I love learning and experiencing new things, and LA is a great place for workshops. I’ve learned how to make candles, clay wall hangings, meditate, and make the perfect cup of pour over coffee! Over the weekend Eddie and I had the pleasure of taking a Concrete Geometric Workshop - we learned techniques for working with concrete and color to create gorge planters. It was such a blast and the Concrete Geometric studio is super gorge. I wanted to share with you some pics from the day, and what I created. Makers gonna make!! Keep scrollin for all the fun :)
How adorbs is this studio though?? Gimme all dem plants and pretty concrete planters. We each got to wear aprons that said “DESIGNER” on them which made me feel v cool and offish.
The studio is filled with concrete pieces made by Krizia Flores, the creator of Concrete Geometric. She’s so talented, I’m obsessed with how she works with shapes and color to create such unique, beautiful pieces.
The prettiest work station!
Learning from the master.
Eddie designing away.
Basically, we were given concrete in powder form, as well as powdered pigments - mix those two together with water, pour it into your mold, and voila! We were able to combine colors to create the perf shades, it was really fun playing around with all the possibilities.
I look so serious kakaka was concentrating v hard.
After I’d mixed all my colors and poured everything into my mold, it was time to let it sit and harden. Which meant…. snack time!
Nom nom nom. Such a yummy spread.
Loved all the perf lil details in the studio.
We each got a lil brown bag filled with dirt and were able to choose our plant bb cuttings for our new vessels. Yaaaas!
Freeing my creation from its mold for the big reveal!!
Gahhhh I love it so much. Wasn’t even what I had been going for when I was creating it, and I love that. Such a happy accident!
Inspectin’ - it reminds me of the ocean and fuzzy sea foam. Do ya see it?
Big thanks to Krizia for having us at her workshop! It was such a fun time, we learned something new and seriously love the lil works of art we created. Click the button below to learn more about Concrete Geometric and see when the next workshop is!
