Styling a Plant Shelfie

Our lil cottage came with some really fab built in shelf sitches, and I recently devoted time to restyling one of them! More time at home means more love given to those corners of the house that could use an update. I hadn’t properly styled these shelves since we first moved in two years ago, so we were overdue for a refresh. Sharing my tips for styling the perf plant shelfie!

  1. Gather all the pieces you want to style your shelf with into a pile nearby - my faves are plants, vases, photos, art, books, decorative boxes, and smaller accents such as sage and palo santo bundles.⁣

  2.  Start with your bigger pieces. I placed the larger plants on the shelves first, towards the ends to anchor everything. ⁣

  3. Think of clustering objects in groups of 3 when styling. Even though there isn’t much space in between the items on my shelves, placing them together in smaller groups helped me decide what looks best next to each other. Especially helpful when styling a larger shelfie sitch such as this one, as it can easily become overwhelming knowing where to start.⁣

  4. Height is your best friend, don’t be afraid to play around with it! Place smaller plants next to taller plants, stack books on their sides and place shorter objects on top, layer horizontal prints alongside vertical prints. ⁣

  5. Have fun with it! Put on some good music and get in the zone. I take a long time styling my shelves because there are just so many options. I move things around constantly and keep swapping pieces until I’m happy with how it looks. ⁣

I had a few of my photos printed on glass through Fracture, I love how they turned out. So nice to have physical family pics in this digital age!

I hope those tips help! Happy shelfie decorating :)
